Tom Carroll, Jr. is the vintner at
Crossing Vineyards and Winery. He is also one of its principals
and founders. His lifelong dream has been to create a vineyard
on the historic property where he spent his childhood. His goal

Tom was born in 1975 and was educated at Chapin School and Princeton
Day School in Princeton New Jersey. He obtained a double degree
in English and Film from Vassar College in 1997 and spent three
years in California self-educating in viticulture and enology.
He returned to his roots and partnered with his parents to establish
first the vineyard and then the winery in 2000. “We are willing
to work very hard to establish a regional identity for Pennsylvania
wines,” says Carroll. “Our French Hybrids and Vinifera
are different from California’s, not inferior. I have no
interest in imitating the mass-produced, mass-marketed California
wine style.”
